Welcome to Kutsher's: The Last Catskills Resort

Documentary | 2012

Synopsis

Kutsher’s Hotel and Country Club was the last surviving Jewish resort in the Catskills. One of the legendary Borscht Belt hotels during its heyday, Kutsher’s was family-owned and operated for over 100 years. “Kutsher’s” explores the full Catskills experience from the creation of the resorts as unique vacation destination for Jews excluded from gentile Country Clubs through the Dirty Dancing-era. This award-winning documentary captures a last glimpse at a phenomenon integral not only to Jewish American social history, but to our greater cultural consciousness as well through their influence on American stand-up comedy, sports achievement of people of color and the birth of the NBA All-Star Game, and a culture of all-inclusive leisure activity
